Taking a supporters' club, a group of friends or corporate guests to AFCON 2027? Here's how to organise a group trip to Kenya: the timeline from now to kick-off, rooming and transport, mixed budgets, and how to add a safari everyone will talk about for years.
Travelling to a tournament with your people is one of the best things in football: the songs on the bus, the shared nerves before kick-off, the stories afterwards. It's also a logistics job. Thirty fans, three matches, two cities and a safari don't organise themselves.
We plan group travel in Kenya all year, from family reunions to corporate trips. This is how we'd approach an AFCON 2027 supporters' trip.
The timeline: from now to kick-off
- 1Now – December 2026Gauge interest and set a budget
Find out roughly how many people are serious, how long they can travel, and what they can spend. Decide whether you're going for the group stage, the knockouts, or both. Share a sample itinerary early; it turns "maybe" into "I'm in".
- 2January – March 2027Hold space and take deposits
Ask your operator for a group proposal and hold hotel rooms and safari camps on flexible terms. Collect deposits so you know who's committed. AFCON overlaps with Kenya's peak safari season, and good camps fill early.
- 3Once fixtures are publishedFix your dates and match plan
When CAF publishes the fixtures and venues, lock in your arrival and departure dates and book flights. This is also the time for everyone to buy match tickets through official channels.
- 4April – May 2027Paperwork and rooming
Every traveller applies for their eTA if they need one, buys travel insurance that meets Kenya's health-cover rule, and checks passport validity. Finalise the rooming list, dietary needs and anyone's mobility requirements.
- 5June 2027Final briefing and travel
Share a day-by-day plan, emergency contacts and a WhatsApp group with your local coordinator. Then go and enjoy it.
Getting around as a group
One vehicle, one pick-up point, one driver who knows the stadium drop-off. Far easier than 30 people booking rides at the final whistle.
Pop-up-roof Land Cruisers usually seat six so everyone has a window. Keep friends together and let each vehicle choose its own pace.
For bigger groups, domestic flights to the Mara or the coast can sometimes be chartered, which also makes timings easier to control.
Handling mixed budgets
Every supporters' group has a range of budgets. Don't build the trip around the most expensive or the cheapest traveller. Instead, give people choices inside one shared plan:
- One itinerary, tiered rooms: everyone does the same days, matches and game drives, with a choice of standard or upgraded rooms at the same hotel or camp.
- Optional extras: hot-air balloon safaris, a longer beach stay or an extra night in the Mara, paid only by those who want them.
- Clear inclusions: a written proposal that says exactly what's included and what isn't, so there are no arguments at the hotel desk.
Adding a group safari
A shared safari is where a football trip becomes a story people tell for years. Two to three nights in the Maasai Mara, by road for a group on a tighter budget or by air for a shorter trip, is the classic choice. From about mid-July the Great Migration usually starts arriving, right as the tournament reaches its finale. Read more in how to combine AFCON 2027 with a Kenya safari.
Why use a local operator for a group?
You could book 30 hotel rooms, ten vehicles and a safari camp yourself. But when a fixture moves, a flight is delayed or a supporter loses their phone, you want someone in Nairobi who picks up and sorts it. One coordinated plan, one point of contact, one invoice.

Frequently asked questions
Can you organise an AFCON 2027 trip for a supporters' group?
Yes. We prepare group proposals based on your group size, travel dates, accommodation level, rooming arrangements and preferred destinations, including matchday transfers in Nairobi and group safaris.
Do your group packages include AFCON match tickets?
No. Match tickets are not included unless expressly confirmed through an authorised arrangement. Each traveller should buy tickets through official CAF channels.
How many people fit in a safari vehicle?
Most pop-up-roof safari vehicles in Kenya seat six guests so everyone has a window seat. A group of 30 typically travels in five vehicles.
When should a group book for AFCON 2027?
As early as possible. Confirm numbers and a budget by the end of 2026, hold flexible space early in 2027, and fix dates once the official fixtures are published.
Can people in the same group choose different room types?
Yes. A common approach is one shared itinerary with a choice of standard or upgraded rooms, plus optional extras paid individually.
